Still life is the most effective way to learn rules of painting. Simple forms, motionless subject matter allows the student to master composition, drawing and color harmony.
The more one paints, the more one realizes that for true painting the subject matter is irrelevant, one can create most extraordinary fine art with simplest objects, and that is the genius of art!
Those student that feel that still life sounds boring, please remember that Cezanne changed a course of fine art with his still lifes.
